Vineyard Notes: 2022 was an interesting vintage, with beautiful weather leading up to Labor Day weekend, when we then had a record breaking heat spell. Fortunately, we picked the Chardonnay Cuvee on August 15, 2022 and the fruit was perfect. The fruit is from our Lucky 8 Vineyard on Tesla Road. This vineyard is less than a mile from our estate property and sits adjacent to a rolling hill. The vineyard row orientation is north to south which maximizes the sunlight potential of each plant.
Winemaking Style: Gracie Sparkling is meticulously produced using the traditional method, “Method Champenoise”a time-honored technique that enhances complexity and finesse. This process involves a second fermentation in the bottle, creating the wine’s delicate bubbles and nuanced flavors. After aging on the lees, the wine develops creamy, toasty notes that harmonize beautifully with its lively fruit character, delivering a classic yet distinctive expression.
The Wine: Gracie’s Sparkling is named after the 5th grandchild, Gracie Blake. This Sparkling greets the nose with toasty aromas, bright citrus, and a subtle hint of vanilla. On the palate, flavors of green apple, ripe pear, and zesty lemon mingle with a creamy, smooth texture, complemented by lively bubbles and a refreshing, dry finish. Its effervescent character makes it an ideal partner for celebrations or casual enjoyment. Pair this sparkling gem with oysters on the half shell, goat cheese crostini, or a light citrus salad.
