Vineyard Notes: The 2022 growing season in Livermore Valley delivered a vintage defined by bold character and structure. A dry winter was followed by a warm, consistent spring and early summer, promoting balanced vine growth and a steady fruit set. As the season progressed, the valley experienced several extended heat events, which drove concentration in the fruit, while cool evenings helped preserve acidity. Harvest began earlier than in recent years on September 10th, with Cabernet Sauvignon showing remarkable depth, ripeness, and tannin structure. This vintage embodies the power and richness that define great Livermore Valley Cabernet.

The Wine: The 2022 Patriot Cabernet Sauvignon is a commanding wine with presence and purpose. In the glass, it reveals a dark garnet core with a radiant edge. Aromas of black cherry, violets, rose petal, and vanilla immediately engage the senses, followed by deeper notes of chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, eucalyptus, black tea, and tarragon. Hints of orange peel and forest floor add a complex, earthy dimension to the aromatic profile. On the palate, it delivers layers of sweet black fruit—black cherry, blackberry, and black currant—wrapped in bold, mouth-filling tannins. Good acidity brings lift and freshness, while the finish is long, dense, and driven by powerful dark fruit and structure. This is a Cabernet built to stand tall and age gracefully.
