The Evening

Start the evening with an intimate, expert-led seminar that goes beyond the pour. Hear directly from the people behind Livermore Valley’s wines and become apart of our community.

7:00 – 9:00 PM — Tasting Event
Join us outdoors on the front lawn of McGrail Vineyards & Winery and taste your way through Livermore Valley’s finest. Every wine available tonight earned a Gold Medal or higher at the California Signature Wine Awards. This isn’t a showcase of everything — it’s a showcase of the best.
The Main Event — Live Award Announcements
The evening culminates with the announcement of the Uncorked Best Red and Uncorked Best White — Livermore Valley’s highest wine honors. Eligible wines are those that received a Double Gold or higher at the California Signature Wine Awards from wines submitted from Livermore Valley wineries. The winners are revealed live, on the night.

The California Signature Wine Awards is a new competition built on a simple idea: rigorous judging produces meaningful results. With strict standards for both the wines entered and the professionals who evaluate them, a gold medal here carries real weight. Every winery pouring tonight met that standard. That’s not something you’ll find at a typical wine event — and it’s exactly why Uncorked 2026 is worth your evening.

Step into history for a night that could only happen in Livermore Valley. Set inside our iconic caves—the very place where Chardonnay first took root in California in the 1880s—this immersive evening celebrates the wine that put our region on the map.
Fourteen Livermore Valley winegrowers will come together to pour their unique expressions of Chardonnay, each one telling a different story of this remarkable grape. From bright and crisp to rich and layered, you’ll explore the full “Chardonnay rainbow” and discover just how dynamic this varietal can be.
Between tastings, enjoy wood-fired pizzas, pacific tide tacos, and a curated selection of artisanal cheeses from Brandon of The Cheese Shop (available for purchase). As the sun sets, live music will fill the tirage barrel room and spill out onto the patios—bringing the entire evening to life.
This isn’t just a tasting—it’s a celebration of legacy. Chardonnay’s journey in California began right here in 1881, when Charles Wetmore brought cuttings from Meursault to Livermore Valley. Join us for an unforgettable evening at McGrail Vineyards as we celebrate our 15th Annual Lobster Feed, one of our most loved traditions. For over a decade, we’ve gathered around long tables, rolled up our sleeves, and shared fresh Maine lobster the way it’s meant to be enjoyed – with your hands, plenty of butter, great wine, & even better company!
We’ll be serving a communal, family-style feast featuring freshly harvested Maine lobster with all the classic fixings – prawns, sausage, corn on the cob, potatoes, crusty bread, and lots (and lots) of butter. Every bite is meant to be paired with our award-winning McGrail wines, crafted with care by our winemaking team.
As the sun sets over the vineyard, settle in under the stars, enjoy live music featuring a high-energy band playing your favorite hits – don’t be surprised if you find yourself up and dancing after dinner!

As you shop, relax with a glass or bottle of McGrail wine – available for purchase to enjoy as you take in the lively atmosphere. Whether you’re in the mood for a cozy glass of wine or a fun afternoon out, this event has something for everyone! We will be collecting Toys for Tots collection, so bring a new toy & receive a bonus splash of wine!
Soleil Wood Fired Pizza will be on-site serving up delicious pizza, so you can grab a bite while enjoying the holiday cheer. Rain or shine, we’ll be celebrating, so layer up and get ready for a fun weekend in the vineyards!
