Vineyard Notes:

The 2022 vintage of Cabernet Franc is sourced from our Lucky 8 Vineyard, located on Tesla Road in the southeast portion of the Livermore Valley.  2022 was an exceptionally wet winter which was much needed. The extra water helped to flush out the soils and rejuvenate the vines. We had a warm summer but not too hot until the first part of September. <br>

Winemaking Style:

Cabernet Franc has been blended into other wines we have produced in years past, but in 2020 we decided to produce our first single varietal Cabernet Franc.  This is our third vintage of Cabernet Franc and it's been a hit as well! Livermore Valley grows Cabernet Franc exceptionally well and allows for a bold wine with great acidity.  <br>

The Wine:

McGrail Vineyards' Cabernet Franc from the Lucky 8 Vineyard in the Livermore Valley is elegant and has a distinctively smooth finish. Its aromatic bouquet is a symphony of black cherry, blackberries, cassis, sweet violets, and sweet peas. These scents are enriched over time, revealing notes of vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, black pepper, and a subtle essence of black tea. On the palate, it offers a powerful burst of black cherry and milk chocolate-covered cherries, balanced by a good acidity and soft tannins, leading to a long finish with black fruits, black pepper, and refreshing acidity. Enjoy this Cabernet Franc with a juicy burger topped with pepper jack cheese, turkey with cranberry, or a goat cheese crostini drizzled with honey. <br>
